Events
The Kansas City Chapter of The NFL Alumni has participated in a variety of events.
On May 4th of 2011 we are sponsoring a community
wide symposium of the foremost authorities in Brain Science and
concussions in sports. In conjunction with Morehouse School of Medicine
Satcher Health Leadership Institute,
the
NFL Alumni KC chapter is providing the community an opportunity to hear
exactly what is known about injuries to the brain and what we should all
be aware of when it comes to Dementia, CTE, Alzheimer's and 2nd impact syndrome. with the
yearly highlighted events generally the Our Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament
in July hosts team from around the area and the country with the winners
qualifying to compete in the "Super Bowl" of golf.
Our KC Chapter pays expenses for the winning team's trip. The KC chapter has been raising money for youth charities since 1983.
We also participate in Kid's Day celebration by visiting a local
hospital, "Children's Mercy" in Kansas City and spending some time with
kids and their parents and handing out some small gifts. We haven't
participated in the sporting clays event in recent years but we're
considering it.
We're also considering sponsoring a winter/spring event
to maintain better contact with the community throughout the year. One
of the ideas currently under consideration is a poker night for charity.
Stay tuned by staying in contact with your local chapter, attending
events, maintaining contact through twitter and social media with
current members. It's all about making life a little better for the
kids.
